Movie lovers are in for treat at the 7th annual Aultsville Winter Filmfest, taking place January 25th to 27th, 2013 at Aultsville Theatre.

This popular event brings award winning independent films to Cornwall with an exciting programme that consists of six film screenings, a gala reception, and afternoon refreshment breaks at Aultsville Theatre.

“The Film Festival is a community event,” states coordinator Melanie Baker Brown. “It provides a wonderful break in the middle of winter, and a great opportunity for friends to get together, see some movies, and soak up the buzz that a film festival creates.”

The festival will highlight some of the best international and independent films of the past year, as well as screen short films by local students before each feature. Initial film selections include the Oscar winning Iranian film A Separation and the American critically acclaimed independent film Beasts of the Southern Wild.

Here is the full weekend itinerary:

Friday January 25 at 7 pm – Beasts of the Southern Wild
Saturday January 26 at 11:00 am – Farewell, My Queen
Saturday January 26 at 2:00 pm – A Separation
Saturday January 26 at 7 pm – Searching for Sugar Man (reception to follow movie)
Sunday January 27 at 1:00 pm – Inch’Allah (luncheon to follow movie)
Sunday January 27 at 4:30 pm – The Queen of Versailles

All films will be shown in Aultsville Theatre allowing attendees to enjoy the comfort and acoustics that Aultsville Theatre provides, with the gracious lobby and reception space for socializing.

All receptions and luncheons will be held on-site – a welcome convenience that will promote great conversation and new friendships.

“We encourage everyone to attend this year’s Filmfest,” says Melanie Baker Brown, “If you are not able to join us for the full weekend, pick a few films that interest you and bring your friends! Aultsville Theatre has plenty of seats to accommodate a large crowd – plan to join us!”

The full weekend pass ($100) will include admission to all six film screenings during the three day festival, as well as Saturday afternoon refreshments, a gala evening reception, and a Sunday luncheon. Single tickets to all screenings are also available.

Filmfest weekend passes and advance tickets for individual screenings are on sale now at the Civic Complex Box Office. Rush tickets will also be available throughout the weekend prior to each screening at Aultsville Theatre.
