The Eastern Ontario Health Unit (EOHU) t has been accredited with Exemplary Standing from Accreditation Canada, which is the highest level of accreditation. In other words, the EOHU has met 95% or more high priority criteria and a number of other important standards including:

  • Effective Organization (Leadership)

  • Public Health Services

“Achieving Exemplary Standing reflects leadership and a commitment to excellence. The staff, management, board and volunteers of the EOHU have demonstrated both,” explains Todd Lalonde, Board of Health Chairperson.

In part, the Accredition Report stated the following: The EOHU is perceived as being an important source of data and talent, contributing to improving the health status of the communities…Clients and families interviewed expressed satisfaction with the programs and services and complimented staff on their professionalism and caring attitudes. Many remarked on the trust they felt for the individual staff members.

“We are extremely proud of this accomplishment. Moreover, I believe that the changes we have made to our organizational structure will allow us to even better support staff and continue to deliver high quality services to the community,”  adds Dr. Paul Roumeliotis, Medical Officer of Health.

EOHU participates in Accreditation Canada’s Qmentum accreditation program. As part of this ongoing process of quality improvement, an on-site survey was conducted in January 2012. Information from the on-site survey as well as other data was used to produce the Accreditation Report which can be viewed by visiting and clicking on the Accreditation seal located on the main page.
