Team Cornwall membership surpasses 400 mark

Team Cornwall has reached a new milestone in its efforts to promote Cornwall as a great place to live and do business.

The ambassadorial program has now surpassed the 400-member mark for the first time in its 16-year history.

“We’ve seen significant growth over the last several years, and that is good news for Team Cornwall and for the community as a whole,” said Team Cornwall Chair Gilles Latour. “It speaks to the confidence and optimism that our own business community has in Cornwall’s future.”

Team Cornwall was established in 1996 with a goal of spreading the word about Cornwall’s positive attributes. The organization’s inaugural meeting was held in March 1997, and 122 business and community leaders made a commitment to join the team. Since that time, membership has more than tripled, and the organization’s trademark baseball-themed business cards have spread around the world.

“The growth in the team means we have more people talking up Cornwall with their friends and business colleagues around the world,” added Mr. Latour. “As a result, more people are aware of where Cornwall is and what we have to offer.”

In addition to promoting Cornwall outside the community, the efforts of Team Cornwall has also helped to build civic pride and optimism among local residents and business owners.

“Cornwall is on the right track and thanks to the work of Team Cornwall and numerous other community partners, more and more people are beginning to realize that,” said Mayor Bob Kilger. “That civic pride and optimism is especially important as we work to attract new residents and businesses to the City.”
